As Epic Investment Services Co-Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Kohn is responsible for the overall strategy and profitability of the business, with a focus on growth through business development, acquisitions and investments.
With 30+ years of experience as a proven transformational leader in corporate real estate, he’s a seasoned growth strategist and hands-on team builder, adept in unlocking a company’s potential to deliver effective stakeholder results.
Jeff was the Founder and Chairman of Tonko Development Corp. A publicly traded real estate company, it owned and managed assets in excess of $750 million with 7.5 million square feet of industrial, office, and retail properties before selling in 2002 to an institutional purchaser.
From 2003 to 2006, Jeff was CEO of TGS North American Real Estate Investment Trust where he was instrumental in growing the portfolio to 4.4 million square feet in western Canada and the United States, bringing his investors a return of over 20% in 2.5 years and selling it in aggregate for over $600 million.
He was owner and president of MDC Property Services Ltd. who recently partnered with Epic to form their new full-service North American real estate platform.

Co-Chief Executive Officer
Craig Coleman is Epic Investment Services Co-Chief Executive Officer. He’s responsible for the overall business strategy and growth through property and asset management for Epic’s new full-service North American platform.
Steady, strategic growth is the driver behind Craig’s 25+ year career in corporate real estate. Deep experience in navigating Canadian and U.S. markets makes him an expert in management, leasing, financing, reporting, business development, investor relations, acquisition and expansion. He has earned a reputation for high-level planning and executional excellence that creates long-term value for both his clients and professional partners.
Craig has held senior positions at Maestro Real Estate Advisors and CIBC Development Corporation.
In 2004 Craig founded StoneCap Realty Group, an asset management firm which grew to over $7.5B of assets under management. In 2017, StoneCap Realty merged with Epic Realty Partners and Alasco to form Epic Investment Services
As former Chief Operating Officer of Epic, Craig managed execution of Epic’s business strategy across Canada, overseeing $14.2 billion in assets, managing a portfolio of over 26 million square feet and leading a team of 100+ experienced real estate professionals.
Craig is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, and a chartered accountant. Craig can be reached at Epic’s head office in Toronto.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Laetitia Pacaud is responsible for the execution of business strategy across Canada and the U.S.A.
A collaborator for change, she is a focused, client-centric executive with an exceptional record for driving growth. Laetitia has brought clarity to complex business challenges throughout a career in commercial real estate that spans property accounting and financial reporting, asset management, acquisitions and investor relations, and fund management.
She began her career as an Internal Auditor of an Australian Public Company before moving into public accounting at an international accounting firm, KPMG. After moving to Toronto, Laetitia joined Caber Capital Inc., a trader of commercial real estate focusing on value-add projects.
She became a founding member and President of Strathallen Capital Corporation where under her leadership, it closed its largest transaction in 2017 with the privatization of One REIT, acquiring 44 assets with a value of $703 million.
In 2018, Laetitia was brought aboard as Executive Vice-President of Business Development at MDC where she led growth initiatives across their North American platform, overseeing 12 million square feet of cross-border commercial real estate and spearheading MDC’s second U.S. Multi-Family Fund.
Laetitia earned a Bachelor of Business degree from Southern Cross University in Lismore, Australia and the designation of Chartered Accountant. She works out of Epic’s Canadian head office in Toronto.

Senior Vice President Operations & Leasing (USA)
Allan is responsible for the overall investment growth of Epic’s real estate portfolio across Canada and the U.S.
Allan has over 20 years of experience across all aspects of real estate and has completed over $3 billion in real estate transactions. He began his career as a property manager before diversifying into acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, development and mortgage financing. A strong, client-centric executive with deep knowledge of the U.S. market, Allan’s insight-based strategies consistently lead to creating value for clients.
Allan previously worked for TGS North American Real Estate Investment Trust as its Vice President, Acquisitions. During his time with REIT, Allan was involved in over $600 million in property acquisitions and dispositions and was instrumental in the process that led to the eventual sale of the REIT to Great-West Life.
Prior to REIT, Allan worked on over $1 billion of commercial sale transactions, the majority of which were on behalf of institutional investors.
Previously, Allan was MDC’s Executive Vice President and Epic Realty Partners (Alberta) Inc.’s Vice President, Western Canada where he was responsible for the region’s acquisitions and business development.

As Senior Vice President Operations & Leasing USA, Bruce oversees operations and manages the US offices for MDC Realty Advisors, LP.
Widely known for delivery of business results, Bruce Backstrom has over 30 years of commercial real estate experience across management and leasing of office, retail, industrial and medical office buildings, with special focus on receivership responsibilities for distressed properties. His deep experience of U.S. markets has earned him a proven track record for insightful strategy, disciplined execution, and maximizing property value.
Bruce joined MDC Group in 2011 as Executive Vice President of Operations & Leasing USA in Denver, Colorado.
Before joining MDC, Bruce was the Managing Director of Asset Services for CBRE in Colorado, overseeing a staff of over 200 individuals who managed a portfolio of over 26 million square feet.
He spent seven years as senior vice president at Trammell Crow Company, managing the Colorado Property Management team.
Prior to that, he was senior real estate manager for CB Richard Ellis, responsible for a portfolio of over two million square feet.
Bruce Backstrom is based in Denver, Colorado at the MDC Realty Advisors head office.

Finance (Private Clients)
Marty sees every business challenge as an opportunity for growth through earned experience. In his 15+ years as a Chartered Professional Accountant, he has managed a myriad of investments for a wide array of clients with specific reporting requirements. Marty builds strong, capable teams that actively support Epic’s private clients through a deep understanding of their business and delivery of best-in-class service.
Since November 2009 to 2019, Marty held the position of SVP, Finance for MDC Realty Advisors, LP.
He is widely experienced with commercial real estate, open and closed end funds, income trusts, oil and gas, financial services, hospitality and non-profit organizations. He is highly adept in all aspects of accounting, including reporting/disclosure, business development, audit and taxes, banking and experience with commercial real estate, investor relations and human resources.
Prior to joining MDC, Marty was a Controller for a group of investment products including 11 publicly traded structures on the Toronto Stock Exchange, a mutual fund corporation with five fund classes, and a flow-through limited partnership.
Marty received a Bachelor of Business degree at the University of Calgary and articled for his CA/CPA designation at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He works out of the MDC Realty Advisors head office in Calgary.
Steve has over 15 years of experience spanning all aspects of commercial real estate including acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, portfolio management, property management, leasing and development.
Prior to joining MDC, Steve worked for pension fund, REIT, and private real estate investors and most recently as an investment sales real estate broker with a major international firm. Steve is a core MDC team member, using his experience and skills to oversee asset management, leasing, and operations of all asset classes.
Steve holds a B.A. (Hons) in Urban Development from the University of Western Ontario.
Steve is based out of Epic's Calgary office.
Investment & Asset
Justin Backstrom joined MDC Realty Advisors as in 2011 after spending four years with Cassidy Turley. In this role Justin is responsible for asset services in the US. Justin has spent over ten years in the commercial real estate industry. His experience includes overseeing & managing office, retail and industrial portfolios throughout the United States.
He has worked for institutional, private capital clients and owners of distressed assets. Previously with Cassidy Turley Justin was responsible for a portfolio of over two million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties. Justin is licensed in Colorado and is active with BOMA.
He is a graduate of Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance/Real Estate.
Justin is based out of the MDC Realty Advisor's head office in Denver, Colorado.
Jordan Kohn has 5 years of experience in the brokerage, acquisition and property management side of the real estate business. Jordan’s responsibilities within MDC include acquisitions and dispositions, development, asset and property management and leasing.
Prior to joining MDC, Jordan was a financial analyst for one of Western Canada’s top commercial real estate brokerage teams that achieved over $1 billion dollars of transaction volume annually.
Jordan graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Political Science and received his Masters of Business Administration from Lynn University.
Jordan works out of Epic's Vancouver office.
Acquisitions & Dispositions
Abi Paul has over 12 years of multi-faceted real estate industry experience ranging from residential leasing and property management to a long career span in commercial valuations and appraisals. At MDC, Abi is involved in acquisitions and dispositions assignments, securing mortgage financing and several special projects. He is also involved with the growth of MDC’s first real estate fund of income producing multi-family assets located in Arizona and Texas.
Prior to joining the company, Abi worked as a commercial property appraiser at Avison Young Valuations and Altus Group where he advised various Pensions Funds, REITS and Land Developers.
Abi holds a professional designation of A.A.C.I, P.App from the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He completed the Diploma in Urban Land Economics from University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration from Durham University, UK. Abi also has an MBA from Durham University.
Abi is based out of Epic's Calgary office.
Suzanne Dixon has over 14 years commercial real estate experience. Suzanne currently assists in over-seeing all accounting and financial reporting for public REITs and high net worth individuals on a twelve million square feet portfolio of commercial real estate located in Canada and the U.S.A. As Assistant Controller, she is experienced in all aspects of real estate accounting and finance, as well as real estate software system integrations.
Suzanne started her career with a public REIT as a property accountant and has advanced into the Assistant Controller role.
Suzanne is based out of Epic's Calgary office.
