Jeff Kohn leads the overall strategy and profitability of MDC, with a focus on growth through business development, acquisitions, and strategic investments. A proven transformational leader, he brings more than 35 years of corporate real estate experience, combining hands-on leadership with deep industry insight to deliver sustained stakeholder value.

Jeff was the Founder and Chairman of Tonko Development Corp., a publicly traded real estate company that owned and managed over $750 million in assets, including 7.5 million square feet of industrial, office, and retail properties, prior to its sale in 2002. From 2003 to 2006, he served as CEO of TGS North American Real Estate Investment Trust, where he expanded the portfolio to 4.4 million square feet across Western Canada and the United States, generating investor returns exceeding 20% in 2.5 years before a $600 million aggregate sale.

Jeff has also served on the boards of Avinir Income Trust and City Office REIT, a New York Stock Exchange–listed REIT, providing strategic oversight and governance leadership. He founded MDC in 2006 and continues to lead the firm’s strategic growth initiatives from MDC’s San Diego office.
